After her husband was late coming home from work one night, Claudia, a faithful member of our church, Breath of Life, received the call that so many Mexicans fear. It was Luis’ kidnappers, demanding a ransom. If she didn’t pay it, they would kill him. Claudia knew she would likely never see him again.

It seems too late for the young girl that we befriended years ago, who now has two children and no prospects of work or marriage. But for other deaf young women, we are determined to give them an opportunity to be learning a practical skill that will give their life some direction.
Stories from the Field: Eastern Europe Crisis Pregnancy Center, Amy
It turned out that the young woman, “Amy,” had been beaten by her drunk, common-law husband and thrown out in the street. Her arm was broken in the process. When he had learned that she was pregnant, he wanted her to get an abortion. She was reluctant as she had had one previously and did not want to repeat the experience. When we met Amy, she was terrified for herself and her 18-month old son, who was still with his father.
Hands of Honor Update
For many of the girls that come to us, these staff members are some of the first to ever express concern or defend them against injustice. Often, these women are also the first Christ-followers they’ve ever met. It’s been amazing to see hearts respond to the gospel as the girls are introduced to Jesus through storying through the Bible and tangibly seeing His love in action.
